We Say

The Setting

Located 100m away from Aldgate East station, in Shoreditch, you can easily walk past the Whitechapel Grind without even noticing there is a café/ bar. Quite hidden and understated, make sure you look hard to find it! Very secluded and a great space to work from…if that is what you are looking for!

The Atmosphere

Located in a big office building, there is no way of knowing this place is open to the public. Right in the middle of this big building, walking in can feel a little intimidating. You can feel like an outsider as most people enjoying their drinks here are people that work in the building. However, there are plenty of different businesses meaning not everybody knows each other. We would recommend going there if you need to do some work. The Whitechapel Grind is very spacious, airy and light. Basically, perfect to clear your mind and get into the ‘work zone’. They serve snacks and non-alcoholic drinks all day and their bar only opens at 5pm from Thursdays. We love a change of scenery, so going there to do a little bit of work is the perfect compromise, especially on a Thursday or Friday so the day can end with a cocktail. You don’t really get a bar-feel from this place as you have to remember you are in the centre of a corporate building but the atmosphere is nice.

The Drinks

With very affordable cocktails (most are £5), it is a good after-work spot, if you want a quiet one. You can sit at the bar or at one of their tables and enjoy their simple yet good drinks. Greta networking spot too so do not dismiss it totally!

“GREAT DAY CAFE/ BAR TO DO A LITTLE BIT OF WORK. WE RECOMMEND GOING THERE ON A THURSDAY OR FRIDAY AS THESE ARE THE ONLY 2 DAYS WHERE THEY SERVE ALCOHOL AFTER 5PM. AND WE ALL KNOW THAT FINISHING A HARD DAY WITH A DRINK MAKES IT MILES BETTER.”
