We Say

The Setting

This place has a unique style. The vibe is chintzy and garish and unapologetically so! There is a strong theme of Pink and neon going on in Simmons, but it is not a wholly unpleasant experience. Other than the eclectic and amusing collection of wall art, the venue is a bit of a dark hole, especially at night when the mood lighting seems to be, dark! There is an upstairs room on the ground floor, a large downstairs space which offers many different corners and spaces to occupy and a resident DJ. There is also a very small outdoor section which is allowed for early evening drinks on the street before the licencing rules apply. The bar is situated just off Oxford Street and styles itself as no-nonsense fun place to kick back and knock bar a fair few drinks

The Atmosphere

Simmons sets its stall out to attract the everyman (and woman), and that it does, by offering very good drinks prices, right in the heart of the West End. Clientele are in the most part post-work, in media, and in need of several drinks. They come for the prices and stay in the below ground bar to dance to a generic DJ till long after they should be home. The atmosphere while fun can be a bit rowdy, cliquey and bargain basement and the bar has the vibe of a classic drinking den in the best of London styles.

The Drinks

Drinks here are based around the cocktail and they serve classic and original ones in equal measure. According to their menu, their attitude is most definintely fun and cheeky, including such offerings as a ‘My Tie’ and ‘Sex with a lad’. If they aren’t your cup of tea, they also offer a ‘Cocktail teapot’! There is the ubiquitous ‘Happy Hour’ available every night from 4 – 9pm, where specific offers apply. There are less offers on Saturdays but still revolve around cocktails.

“CHEAP AND CHEERFUL BAR WHICH OFFERS A GOOD SELECTION OF COCKTAILS IN A CONVIVIAL ATMOSPHERE. THIS PLACE DOESN’T TAKE ITSELF TOO SERIOUSLY, AND FEELS LIKE IT ALWAYS WANTS TO BE ‘HAVIN A LAUGH’ WITH MATES.”

Ok space but every ounce of alcohol gets measured. Crowded at HH bc of the 2 for 1 deals. Stay away from punches which are light on alcohol and heavy on the juice.

Great booze, dodgy DJ. Closed at 12:30, even though they advertise 1am.🤔
